The Petroleum Institute's two Independent Learning Centers (ILCs), based in the Bu Hasa and Arzanah Buildings will provide English language and content subject learning opportunities for their users so as to support their coursework, project work, and research. It will assist them over the course of their academic studies to develop as independent learners with the ability to identify their own learning needs. Within this context, our ILCs will provide a firm foundation for life-long learning and access to a knowledge-base that will enhance the ability of their users to operate optimally within the petroleum industry.

The Independent Learning Centers will:

• Provide their users with collections of  learning materials and guidance that will support excellence in all Foundation Program courses of study;
• Incorporate the use of technology and educational innovation at the highest level in order to facilitate every stage of learning;
• Provide language support, reference services and educational guidance;
• Provide users with a functional, well-resourced environment that is conducive to study and learning.
